This volume of  bound Strand Magazines runs from July to December of 1892 and contains the first appearance of ‘The Adventure of Silver Blaze’ by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, illustrated by Paget’s. Published as ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. No. XIII’, this short story contains Holmes’ famous epigram about the dog that did not bark in the night. Later the first of the eleven ‘Memoirs’ published in book form in 1894.
This volume of Strand Magazines also includes Harry How’s well-illustrated article ‘A Day with Dr. Conan Doyle’. An additional attraction in this volume for aficionados of Sherlock Holmes is Clarke Russell’s ‘A Nightmare of the Doldrums’. Clarke’s stories were a favourite of Dr. Watson: ‘I was deep in one of Clark Russell’s fine sea stories’ (‘The Five Orange Pips’).
The volume is in fully intact original condition with both front and back boards fully attached and fully intact end papers front and back. The spine is banded leather with an impressed title but the lettering has lost its colour. There is a full length crack crack along the spine hinge at the from and a small slit in the crack at the top of the spine at the back and the leather corners have wear. The boards are faded.
Internally the volume is in very good condition with no loose pages and minimal scattered foxing.

This volume of bound Strand Magazines runs from July to December of 1915 and contains four short stories by P.G. Wodehouse and two items by A. Conan Doyle. Two of Wodehouse’s short stories are about the misadventures of The Mixer, a dog. Other contributors include A.E.W. Mason and O. Henry.
The volume is in fully intact original condition with both front and back boards fully attached and fully intact end papers front and back. The spine is banded leather with an impressed title and gold lettering. Some minor wear to the spine. The boards are faded with some slight staining and some wear to the corners and edges.
Internally the volume is in very good condition with no loose pages and minimal scattered foxing.
