Framed cartoon by John Tenniel (1820-1914) from a copy of Punch Magazine from 28th May of 1887. The cartoon shows Gladstone hemmed in by Joseph Chamberalin & Lord Hartington whose unionist faction had spilt the Liberal party & caused the downfall of Gladstone’s Liberal government of 1886 on the issue of home rule.

In excellent original condition, page fold down the centre, some very minor scattered foxing.

The frame is in VGC and measures and 16 ½ inches by 10 ½ inches and has safety glass.
