Robert Morden-original copper engraved English county maps from Camden’s Britannia, 1695 First Editions-unframed

North Riding of Yorkshire by Robert Morden for Camden’s Britannia.
1695 First Edition-£85

An original hand coloured copper engraved map of the North Riding of Yorkshire by Robert Morden for “Britannia, or a Chorographical Description of Great Britain and Ireland, together with the adjacent islands”, by William Camden. This appears to be from the earliest 1695 publication of the atlas as the River Tees on the centre left border of the Riding is written as “Teeises R”, an error which was corrected on later maps [see photo]. In excellent condition. Unframed and unmounted. With a central fold.  Measures 17 x 15 inches.
