Dover East Cliff beach & sailing ship aground by C. Latham. A mid-19th century original water-colour painting-£65.00

A mid-19th century original framed water-colour painting of the beach under the East Cliff at Dover looking towards St. Margaret’s with what appears to be the grounded hulk of a sailing ship in mid picture and another ship with a funnel and mast laying off of the hulk. The mount of the picture has “Dover” in copper plate script at the bottom left corner, and “C. Latham” in the same script at the bottom right corner. The C. Latham is believed to have been a member of the Latham family that had shipping and banking interests in Dover in the first half of the 19th century.
The painting is in excellent original condition and measures 12 ½ x 8 ½ inches inside of its mount. The frame is in very good original condition and measures 20 x 17 inches.
